Right Wing Radicals?
It seems that the Southern Poverty Law Center who keeps an eye out for hate groups has added a few names to it's list. For some reason that is known only by them, added Malik Zulu Shabazz (of the Black Panthers) as right-wing radical. Ok. Since when is anyone in the Black Panthers Right Wing? Radical? Ok, yes. I'll go there. However, you can't too much more left. Another name added was David Barton, a historian!!! A few others make the list, and if you'd like more info, go here , but these definitely highlight the pure out of touch ignorance that is so rampant in our country right now. This is pure evidence that they obviously take one phrase, contort it, and shove it immediately into a labelled box without any after thought. Shame on you, SPLC. Did it ever occur to you that possibly people like you are a part of the problem? I have a saying that I tell my kids and I often have to remind myself. This can be said to anybody. If you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. Since they aren't offering up any viable solutions, therefore they are a part of the problem. Period. Stay strong my peeps, and go be a part of the solution!

What I'd Tell My Younger Self
I recently heard the song by Baz Luhrmann titled "Wear Sunscreen". I couldn't agree more. I found myself engrossed in this wordy, 'song' for lack of a word, as it is mostly a speech placed with soft music. The point is, to live life now, and remember the little things. Those are the things you will forget, but are sometimes the most important. As I listened, ever so intently, I found myself nodding in agreement making my own mental list of things I was not told, didn't listen to, or things I wish I could tell my younger self. I would tell my self to remember the feeling of waking without a care in the world, for it disappears quickly as responsibility grows as you age. Remember how you look in the mirror when you are young. You may believe yourself to be fat and ugly, but you aren't, and you'll come to realize this later. And lastly, be nice to your father. You will only have a few short years with him on this earth. He may seem mean now, but he does this in love. This too you will learn as you age. As we look back on our life, it is so easy to see our mistakes. Looking forward, it is hard to not see them. However, one thing to remember is you would not be you unless you made those mistakes. Now, it is your job to learn from them. So, I would ask you as I ask myself: What did you learn?

If You Can't Make History, Why Not Re-Write It?
So, Obama is in a spiraling down-turn and he decides, if I can't beat 'em, I'll join them somehow. Great. Ok, what is your plan? Fix social security? Naaaa. Encourage the only congress to go this long without a budget to pass one? Naaaaa, election is too close. Let's think real hard. Oh! I know! Why not put narcissistic little tidbits of information that you think you've done or sort-of believe in to add to the Presidential Biographies on the White House web site. Now, if that isn't enough, The White House has made a statement to the uproar that they didn't actually change the biographies, they just put in modern information with links to encourage more browsing of the site. I thought, now bear with me now, that when you added something, that changed it. Oh my. I guess I was wrong! So, when we added amendments to the Constitution, we didn't change it? Hellllo! Apparently, Obama's page isn't getting much attention these days and he feels it is the last hour. I have a better idea: Actually do something that is good for the country!

Redistribution of Grades
So, I recently received a grade I really didn't care for. I felt like I had tried and given the "ole college try" and still received less than stellar grade. Now, it was not bad, just not that great. One of those, hmmmm. Waa Waa moments I get. So, Professor puts the grades up such as how many received A's, B's, C's, etc. Now, he claims to be a liberal. So why don't we do a curve? How about, we take all the grades of the class, add them up and divide the grade equally? Or, better yet, those with A's: why don't we divvy up their scores to the less accomplished. It has just occured to me that most liberal professors will not grade on a curve. They, in fact are the hardest to please, and the first one the judge hastily. They speak from both sides of their mouth- fairness and equality. I am more than willing to do my own work and to excel, but when you put others on my back, I'm just going to break and then we all fall down. Don't they see this? If we keep carrying people and continue to stack them up, we'll fall and we all end up on the ground on our asses. What gives?

My Heritage
So, I've recently been interested in tracing my roots. I sometimes (not always, mind you) feel like the black sheep of my family. I'm going through school lots later in life, taking the LSAT's and on to Law School, I am super stressed and needed a bit of a pick me up. I wondered if there were any trail blazers in my family that I could look to and get some sense of "hey they did that then, maybe I can do this now". As most people do, I have family lore of Cherokee blood in my veins. I have yet to find it, but, that gives me food for thought: if Elizabeth Warren claimed her Indian heritage with her cousins cookbook as proof, then why don't I just talk one of my cousins in to writing a cookbook? That means, I won't have to look through census records upon records looking for something that might not have been written down! Yeah me! That way, I can just say it since I really believe it anyway and besides, I've had tons of people remark to me about my high cheek bones too! Hey! What if we're related?
